What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a procedure designed to safely and effectively exfoliate the skin with no downtime. This hottest new trend will rejuvenate and remove lightly facial hairs. Dermaplaning removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells giving the skin a more radiant and smoother appearance. Dermaplaning is a great alternative to waxing because it removes the fine, downy facial hair known as “peach fuzz.”
A specialised instrument is used to refinish the skin’s top layer through a method of gently stroking across the skin. This treatment enhances the beneficial effects of your skin care products. Makeup will lie brilliantly over your silky smooth skin. Dermaplaning is a great treatment done alone or it can be combined with other procedures such as chemical peels.
Benefits of Dermaplaning
- Allows for increased penetration and absorption of skin care products making them more effective
- Stimulates skin cell turnover
- Stimulates collagen and elastin production
- Assists in improving uneven pigmentation such as sun spots and melasma
- Softens the appearance of fine lines
- Improves the texture of the skin
- Gives skin a healthy, radiant glow
- Increases skin hydration
What skin type is dermaplaning for?
All skin types may benefit from dermaplaning. Including pregnant and nursing women. Those with dull, congested, or dehydrated skin are excellent candidates. Dermaplaning will accelerate the sloughing off of dead, peeling skin.
Will the hairs on my face grow back thicker or darker?
No. This procedure does not biologically alter the hair itself. The main structure of the hair does not change and cannot be altered by dermaplaning. Fine, downy hairs, when cut or removed, will grow back the same thickness, shape, and color.
How often is this procedure performed?
Dermaplaning can be performed every 4 to 6 weeks. Treating the skin in this manner actually removes about 2 to 3 weeks’ worth of dead skin cells. The skin should be allowed to complete its normal skin cycle of approximately 30 days.
Combining Dermaplaning with Chemical Peels
A Chemical Peel performed immediately after derma planing is an excellent way to make sure that the Chemical Peel penetrates deeper and more evenly. The two treatments go great together and recommended for optimal results
